TOUR NAME: Cycle the Capital Trail: Richmond to Jamestown

DATE: Saturday, May 29 (first rain-date: Sunday, May 30) (second rain-date: Sunday, June 20)

DURATION (ROUND TRIP): 11 hours (8:00 am – 7:00 pm) Please arrive at 7:30 to load your bike onto the trailer, put your food/drink in coolers, sign waivers, and board the bus. 

PRICE: $40 per person

DESCRIPTION: A great opportunity to ride the 52 mile long Virginia Capital Trail from Richmond to Jamestown. The trail follows historic route 5, passing plantations. This is a designated paved bike trail so no worries about cars. The Nature Bus will be following the riders to provide support (aka sag wagon!), refreshments, and if you want to quit early, just text The Nature Bus and it will pick you up early. The Nature Bus will meet you at several rest stops along the way. The ride is a one-way ride, ending at the Jamestown Settlement. For extremely fast riders, you may have time to actually visit the Jamestown Settlement (additional cost to you). The entire group of riders can head out to an eating/drinking establishment following the ride (place TBD by group).  This tour is a full day tour. We hope to be back to your parked cars at REI around 7:00 (traffic dependent). 

COVID SAFETY MEASURES: We care about the health and safety of those participating in our nature experiences. The Nature Bus has been outfitted with dividers between rows of seats. The bus is sanitized between each tour. Your temperature will be taken and you will be asked to sanitize your hands before boarding. Please stay home if you are not feeling well or have a fever. Masks are required to be worn over both nose and mouth at all times when social distancing of 6 feet is not possible. We ride with all of the windows open for optimal air flow. You are always welcome to ride in your own vehicle and follow the bus to the nature experience.

THINGS TO BRING:
– Pack a lunch; we have coolers on board the bus to store your lunches
– Your DIGITAL or printed ticket

– Cash (it is customary to tip for tours)
– Water bottle (we will have a 5 gallon container; a refilling station with ice cold water)
– Bicycle, Helmet, rain jacket, power bars or other snacks,
– Closed-toed/tennis shoes/cycling shoes

In heavy rain, we will reschedule for the very next day: Sunday, May 30th If raining on the rain date, we reschedule for: Sunday, June 20.

*PLEASE: Eating, drinking, chewing gum is not permitted on the bus. Please arrive 30 min before departure. We do not wait for latecomers because we must adhere to our planned itinerary. Therefore we must pull away at the exact departure time. We cannot receive telephone/text calls to let us know your are running late; we will be driving. Please plan on a slightly flexible return time; other factors may adjust the return time slightly.
*THIS TRIP INVOLVES STRENUOUS EXERCISE. IF YOU PLAN TO RIDE THE WHOLE ROUTE, YOU WILL NEED TO TRAIN BEFORE HAND. OF COURSE YOU CAN CHOOSE TO RIDE A SMALLER PORTION OF THE ROUTE. OUR WAIVER FORM THAT YOU ARE SIGNING STATES THAT YOU ARE PHYSICALLY FIT FOR THIS ACTIVITY. ALL OUR TOURS ALSO INVOLVE WALKING; GUESTS SHOULD EXPECT VARYING DEGREES OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY. *WE GO LIGHT RAIN OR SHINE, SO DRESS FOR THE WEATHER.
