We had a great time on the Nature Bus for my fiancée and my joint bachelor/bachelorette party! Suzanne took us to First Landing for a nature hike with naturalist James who was very knowledgeable, to the Bee and the Biscuit for a delicious brunch, and finally to New Realm brewery for a nice afternoon. Many thanks to Suzanne for putting together a great itinerary!

Everyone should do this!!! Met new friends, saw new places. I had such a great time! Owners are awesome! Everyone is family by hour 2! Your friends are their friends. I can’t wait to do this again! If you think this is limited to “nature” lovers you are wrong! So many trips, so much adventure, so many friendships. Perhaps it should rename to “Adventure Bus”! Regardless, thank you all for making me a better person than I was yesterday!

I finally made it to Chincoteague! I had never been so when The Nature Bus trip came up with the naturalist-guided refuge tour, I was all in. It was so interesting, learning about that part of the eastern shore. Our guide James was a wealth of knowledge about the lay of the land, the Bay, the birds, the ponies, the plants and animals–everything! In the past few years, doing trips with The Nature Bus, I have learned so much about where I live, I love it!

The soggy weather couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of our group trip to the Shenandoah National Park and Charlottesville area Wineries! The weekend was full of fun adventures from rustic cabin camping and hiking, farm tours, downtown eateries and wineries!! Suzanne and Gary are lovely hosts and made sure everyone enjoyed the trip! I look forward to joining another excursion on The Nature Bus soon!!!

Suzanne was an amazing tour guide! We did a bridal meditation at seashore state park in preparation for my sister’s wedding. It was a very relaxing and grounding experience. It also helped all of us to bond with each other and with the bride! Now I feel like I’m ready to support my sister and make her day incredible!

Went with Suzanne and James to the Pleasure House Point Natural Area, enjoyed every bit of it! Friendly and fun, feels like an exclusive excursion. They really know how to entertain the group and run everything super-smooth. And they surely know everything about local wildlife and nature, so the trip was equally exciting for novice explorers and veteran nature-lovers. Highly recommended!

Fantastic. That’s a great single word to sum up the Nature Bus and the team.

We’ve been there for 2 years in a row and will continue to do so as it is a great camp. The team are so enthusiastic and great with the kids. The activities wear the kids out as well so thats an extra bonus for the parents.

Highly recommended and we’ll be back next year.

I don’t usually write reviews, but this one is too good to miss. We had a long but wonderful day at the Great Dismal Swamp, which isn’t really dismal at all. James was our guide, and he is by far the most knowledgeable and personable guide I’ve ever met. He knew every bird, every plant, and the details of every habitat and was eager to share- though not overbearing or preachy. The bus is immaculate and comfortable, and every effort was made to ensure our comfort.

The Nature bus has the best camp in Virginia Beach for children. My Son had the best time learning and also being responsible for conserving our echosystem. He loved that everyday is a new adventure. He got to be up close with so many sea and land creatures learned how to set up camping tents, to start camp fire, seining, swimming, watching birds and animals, seeing wild flowers the list goes on. The staff [ Suzanne, Stephanie and Gracie] took great responsibility for teaching the kids and taking care of them like their own. Such a wonderful experience.

A great weekend in the Shenandoah rustic camping, hiking, and visiting a local farm and area wineries. Suzanne works hard to be sure everyone in the group enjoys the experience and tailors the activities to specific group preferences. A fun way to do something a little different and make new friends.

I admittedly don’t give many 5 star reviews BUT this ecotour absolutely earned it! Suzanne Moss is wonderfully authentic and genuinely welcoming. She ensures fostering a sense of inclusion for everyone. She is very thoughtful in making frequent restroom stops and just her overall high level of consideration for her customers. Our tour guide, James, was phenomenal in how versed he is about the area. He was astonishing in his capacity to keep everyone engaged with his aminated presentations. We didn’t really get a chance to see the Sturgeon, but after such a fantastic trip… that didn’t even matter. 😁

I bought tickets for the sunflower watercolor painting class for my aunt and I as a birthday present for her as we love trying out new experiences in the area. We had so much fun and Suzanne and the instructor (who’s name has totally slipped my mind) we’re wonderful! Would totally recommend if you are looking for a fun girls day experience! 🤗

We had a blast. Watercolor painting in a field sunflowers 🌻 was a wonderful outdoor experience. Stephanie taught us the basics and gave us ideas to express our visual interpretation of the flowers. Delicious snacks were served. Suzanne made sure everyone was safe and happy. We are looking forward to our next outing with The Nature Bus 🚌

This past weekend 11/4-6/22, I had the pleasure of experiencing an amazing trip on the Nature Bus , to the Shenandoah Mountains, to view the fall foliage with owner and my favorite person on the planet, Suzanne Moss, her very patient husband, Gary, their beautiful pet, Sequoia and 16 strangers. We made the most out of a wet, soggy weekend with periods of sunshine to brighten our mood. Although we can never depend on the weather, we can always depend on Suzanne’s uncanny ability to bring out the best in people. She made sure everyone was happy and comfortable. We had lots to do , lots to see, busy hiking, making new friends, eating, drinking and just having fun. Can’t wait for my next adventure!

Week long camp for my 9 year-old. We have 2 kids and map out the summer weeks with various options in Virginia Beach. This week has been our son’s favorite! Lots of activities, education while being fun, and they tire the kiddos out! Professional and courteous staff, and they have a ton of options depending on the weather. Every day is a new adventure and we highly recommend anyone to take part. You’ll love it!

I was an intern at The Nature Bus Nature Quest summer camp for summer 2023. I had such a wonderful experience the entire summer and am so grateful for the opportunity I was given. Suzanne and Stephanie are amazing people and are so welcoming and professional. I was treated as a fellow teacher rather than just an intern. They included me in the planning process and gave me my own lessons to teach, which I asked for. I received credit for this internship at ODU (Old Dominion University) as an ocean and earth science major. I am deeply passionate about nature and the Earth so this could not have been a more perfect internship. I would recommend this business as an attendee or as a team member simply based on the organizational skills and enthusiasm that is shown.

My son had a phenomenal time at the Nature Bus summer camp! They explored multiple trails, the Virginia living museum, and the aquarium along with many other things. The camp leaders were all energetic and fun and did their absolute best to make sure everyone had fun. They also educated him on plant and animal species and not leaving a footprint when in nature. We will definitely be back next year! See pictures below, one of him on his way home, exhausted from a fun day!

My son did two weeks of summer camp on The Nature Bus. He had a great time and really enjoyed going to different locations each day. Every day they go somewhere new with different activities. Some days they went to the Virginia Living Museum or the Aquarium and were able to interact with the wildlife. Other days they went hiking, swimming, making crafts, or just observing the nature around them. I would definitely recommend The Nature Bus for a fun week outdoors during summer break!

My 9 year old son attended the third session of camp with The Nature Bus. I can’t say how much he loved it; he came home each day full of stories about what he’d learned and how wonderful it was. His nature journal entries are so lovely; we have leaves and drawings and all sorts of observations. For every day of camp week, my son was up and dressed early and couldn’t wait to jump in the car and get on the bus! Thank you for this amazing week of rich experiences in nature! Next year, he wants to attend more than one week! 🙂 Thank you both for all the hard work you did to make this camp the highest possible quality.

Went on a kayaking trip on Powhatan Creek with James Abbot as guide and Maya Anderson assisting him. What a treat! Learned so many new things about the James River and its tributaries! Both of these naturalists know the area, native plants, wildlife, as well as birds and enthusiastically pass on that information throughout the day! It was a thoroughly enjoyable adventure! Would recommend The Nature Bus to anyone looking to connect with nature, ecology, like minded people, and learning opportunities. This was my fourth trip and already have more scheduled!

August 2023: I signed my children (aged almost 8 & 10) up for this camp after going on one of Suzanne’s Saturday outings. She struck me as very competent and enthusiastic, so I felt comfortable entrusting my children with her. She did not disappoint! After the second day of camp my younger child asked if he could do this next week too! They’ll definitely be doing this again next summer.

Teachers Suzanne and Stephanie are both experienced elementary school educators and more than capable of handling the group of 16 kids in a nature setting. Plus they had a 3rd adult as an intern, which was great. The first morning the kids are assigned a backpack with some equipment for adventuring, like binoculars, a little fish net, nature journal, etc, and the teachers went over behavior expectations so everyone knew how important it was to be responsible so they can have fun.

The teachers made each day a field-trip for the group of 16 kids. Each day was new and exciting and we didn’t know what was in store! The week my kids went, they went to: Pleasure House Point Natural Area, Virginia Living Museum, Sandy Bottom Nature Park, Virginia Aquarium, and the beach. It seemed the outings were tailored to the kids/weather and not set in stone in advance, which I liked and added to the adventure aspect.

This is a great camp to keep learning alive in the summer. Run by teachers, it has some school-y aspects woven into all the fun, like keeping a journal. That really made this camp such an opportunity to help my kids be more excited about those school-y things when they return for the next grade. My kids came home more interested in applying themselves to drawing and in the morning they were eager to get their things together to head to camp. This is so much more than childcare!

June 2023: I went on the Williamsburg lunch and lavender tour. What a great mom’s day out with friends and friendly ladies. It was a well thought out itinerary and clean bus.

My 8 year old son has declared the Nature Bus camp the “Best camp ever!!!” They have explored multiple natural areas, had fun, made friends and even learned a few things (shhh, don’t tell the kids!). The educators are kind and full of energy making each day unique for the campers. We will return next summer!

The Summer day camp was a wonderful experience for my granddaughter. She can’t wait until next Summer to go again! She learned about the beauty of nature and experienced the joy of being in it. The teachers were amazing! The bus went to places that were a child’s dream: aquarium, Owl Creek, the beach to study it and play a bit, and many more. Who wouldn’t want to have a fun-filled week?

The Nature Bus has been an amazing experience for both of my children. Last summer 2022 my 9 year old daughter attended and had an awesome time exploring nature, learning and making friends. This year 2023 my 8 year old son is attending a week long session. My shy little guy has had the most fun leaning about wildlife, holding animals, learning and just being able to be a kid in nature. The teachers are so kind, patient, caring, and fun. Highly recommend signing your child up for an adventure it’s affordable and well worth it. I can’t wait to sign up for an adult outing.

Suzanne and The Nature Bus is an experience of a lifetime for people of all ages and backgrounds. Suzanne provided my group with top quality, safe, and joyful experiences in nature. The bus was so comfortable even on the hottest days as we explored nature sites up and down the eastern shore. Suzanne has experience with all types of groups and across the state of Virginia so she was able to provide so much insight into the local nature, culture, and history.

Suzanne (the owner) of The Nature Bus graciously agreed to support the Environmental Education Certification program by donating the services of The Nature Bus to a wonderful learning experience made available by The Nature Conservancy at the Virginia Coastal Reserve. Suzanne’s cheerful service and pleasant demeanor improved the event for all involved. Being able to travel from place to place as a group and to experience all aspects of the event as a group was extraordinarily nice. The Nature Bus helped make the event wonderful. Proud of the partnership that occurred including The Virginia Association of Environmental Education, The Nature Conservancy, and The Nature Bus. WOW!

This was my daughter’s second year returning for summer camp with the Nature Bus. She had an amazing week! What I love most about this camp is how each day is a brand-new experience for the kids. The focus is on being more present in nature, so there are no electronics all week. The kids get their own blank journal to fill with their notes as they explore the beautiful bounty of nature right here in Hampton Roads. They also get a backpack filled with explorer tools for the week. This past week they visited a museum, an aquarium, a farm, a nature center, the Chesapeake Bay Lab, and more. They swam, built sand sculptures, hunted for crabs, learned how to identify different tree species, touched all sorts of creatures, had scavenger hunts, painted, and picnicked outdoors. Every evening my daughter would excitedly share all the facts she’d learned and when she told me about sequoia trees it inspired me to start planning a trip west to see some in person next year.
If you have kids in the 757, definitely consider signing them up for this camp next summer. It is ran by two elementary school teachers, Suzanne and Stephanie, who keep the kids safe and engaged. This year they also had an intern to help out. It’s truly the best ran summer camp I’ve ever dealt with. I never worried about how Lyra was doing or if she’d be ok because I had 100% faith and trust in these special ladies. 10/10 recommend it!

Suzanne and The Nature Bus made our weekend explorations on the Eastern Shore of Virginia with The Nature Conservancy the best time! The bus is clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. It allowed our group to travel together from place to place, increasing our sense of community and allowing us to immediately share our discoveries, questions, and ideas with each other while traveling back to base. Not having to use our individual personal vehicles made the whole weekend more enjoyable, plus Suzanne is so friendly and accommodating. The Nature Bus is THE way to go!

My son Ivyn has been attending the Nature Bus camp for the past week. It was the best decision we could have made for him this summer. He literally comes home every single day, not only tired and well taken care of but overjoyed to have been surrounded by likeminded adults and children LOVING everything about nature. He loves that every day is something new to learn and experience. He has always loved everything about the outdoors but to have been immersed in all things animals, ecosystems, bugs, trees, sea-life, etc. with facts and real time fun was a dream come true for him!

Ivyn really enjoyed writing facts about the things he learned throughout the day. He’d come home looking forward to the next morning so he could get back to finishing what he didn’t finish the day before! One thing that really stood out to him was feeding geese — our family USED to love feeding geese until Ivyn shared with us that it’s not good practice to feed them nor other wildlife for several reasons. One being that we don’t want the animals to become dependent on humans.

This camp has encouraged our family to explore more. Although camp is ending soon, we are looking forward to Ivyn taking the lead on our family adventures to new heights! We are also looking forward to keeping in touch with his new friend Matty.

Thank you Suzanne, Stephanie and Gracie for your professionalism and positivity. Your love for the work that you do is very apparent. I am forever grateful for you all for pouring into my baby. We are ecstatic about booking camp for next year!

I took a group of kids from Camden, NJ on a night skies tour to see constellations and enjoy the wonders of the night sky. Many of our teens have never had the opportunity to enjoy the night sky. We were so happy with the program that was offered to them. We saw Jupiter along with 4 of its moons and Saturn. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and friendly – they were so patient with the teens as well because there were many many questions. Thank you all so much for a wonderful tour and for sparking an amazing interest in sciences in my teens. We will definitely be on this bus again the next time we are in Virginia.

Our son is a super nature fanatic, so for his 9th birthday, we booked a Nature Bus party for him and some friends. After we met at our house for a light lunch and cake, we heard the sounds of jungle animals and birds outside- the Nature Bus had arrived! We all piled in… seats with seatbelts were provided and the bus was cozy and warm. Suzanne and her wonderful helper Julie welcomed us, provided some options (since it was raining), and gave us guidelines for safety. We decided to take our chances with the weather and embark on a damp adventure at First Landing State Park.
Once we arrived, we parked near a covered picnic area where most of the parents hung out. Suzanne led the kids in pitching a large tent, and they all squeezed in to talk about naturalists and the tools they use. Next, they took the tent down and sloshed to the covered tables, where they each received naturalist vests and hats (to borrow) along with a nature journal for each child (to keep). Julie and Suzanne brought out a collection and f various natural items found in the park. They discussed where the objects had come from (rocks, fossils, leaves, seeds), what roles they played in the environment, and did a project sorting the items. Each child was focused and excited to learn, even while chilly and a bit wet! When the activities were over, we all piled onto the bus to warm up and drive over to the visitors center. We walked through the small displays there and headed out on a nature walk. It was rainy and breezy, but everyone was prepared with boots and rain coats and Suzanne issued some umbrellas to use on the trail. Kids learned about different trees and leaves and some of the geology of the area. To end, the bus drove us back home and everyone got off the bus feeling relaxed and enriched by the adventure we’d just had! Thank you to Suzanne, Julie, and the Nature Bus for making this birthday a wonderful and unique experience!

I met new friends, learned a great deal from a Naturalist who led our forest walk, had my first yoga class and ended the day painting a bright moon behind the trees in a class led by an artist who provided every possible thing needed; easels, paint, aprons, brushes, etc. Bird calls were piped through the sound system of the very comfortable bus and there was even an essential oil diffuser and a cooler for our lunches. Thank you Nature Bus for a wonderful experience.

I had a WONDERFUL day “nature bathing” with Suzanne and her amazing Nature Bus! Suzanne thinks of everything necessary to give people a memorable experience. The bus is super comfortable too! The one and only Yolanda Imprevento from Beach Belly’s Yoga started us off with yoga on the beach! Afterwards, we enjoyed a hike in First Landing State Park guided by expert naturalist Stuart! Our day ended with a quiet meditation in the woods and a silent hike back to the bus. This experience is truly something everyone should do for themselves! Take time out for you! It is well worth it.

Leave the planning and the driving to The Nature Bus and enjoy a magical day outdoors! I had the most incredible day making new friends and learning about edible wildflowers and the history of the great Kiptopeke State Park! So many options– rent bikes or kayaks, take a nap in a hammock, learn to crab or fish. This is the best way to enjoy a new adventure whether you gather your own group and suggest a spot or sign-up for a trip expertly planned by Suzanne. She thinks of everything to make your day enjoyable! I look forward to the next adventure with The Nature Bus!

I scheduled a private camping event for 12 of us to Sandy Bottom Park. Everyone had a wonderful time and I’m already looking at scheduling another trip. Suzanne was wonderful in helping to organize the trip with lots of suggestions before and during our trip. She was able to hire an artist so we could paint in the park and have everyone take home a canvas which was a definite winner amongst the group. She was very flexible with our plans and had no problem driving our group out to dinner when we had pouring rain that put the Kabosh on our campfire plans. Waking up to a fire the next morning was the icing on the cake! Much needed coffee was ready in minutes. Lol. Highly recommend The Nature Bus for your next small group adventure.

Review of: All-Inclusive, Autumn Weekend Tour for GROUPS of 10-16

We traveled, as a photo club, to the western part of Virginia to enjoy the Fall Foliage. Our stops included a covered bridge, an active water fall, a rail road museum, sunrise and sunset photography opportunities and a visit to an apple/peach orchard are examples of what we all enjoyed so much.

The level of detail and concern to ensure we all had a great time epitomizes the level of service provided by Suzanne Moss and her husband. The bus was spotless, the timing and priority for sunset and sunrise photography was achieved with ease, the priority provided to our group by a very popular tavern in Charlottesville area, Michie Tavern provided a great “flow” for our travels, the concern to ensure that adequate rest stops were provided ensured everyone’s comfort, great story telling by Suzanne on the bus expedited the “travel time lag” are just a few reasons that the NatureBus exceeded expectations.

The NatureBus provides a variety of eco-sensitive opportunities to enjoy nature. This is a great opportunity to sit back, laugh and enjoy nature. It just doesn’t get any better.

If you live in Va or visiting, I really encourage you to check out The Nature Bus if your looking for a day adventure or maybe a weekend. It’s a family owned company and it’s a great way to see of some of what Va has to offer. So far I’ve only been on two due to covid, looking forward to more. The owner Suzanne and her family go above and beyond to make sure all have a great time. Where ever the road takes ya, they always find the best informative guides. Also I love it’s not a large crowd and all CDC guidelines are in place to keep everyone safe. If you’re looking for fun and want to meet new people and just have a good time, in my opinion you can’t go wrong. She’s also open to suggestions for trips others may be interested in or if a group of family/friends want a specialized tour, she’ll arrange that too. Suzanne and The Nature Bus are a gift to Hampton Roads and VA. They do trips most Saturdays and some weekends, do yourself a favor and check it out. I’ve lived here all my life and The Nature Bus has taken me to places I never visited.

I have gone on sightseeing / day bus trips in towns I was visiting in. I always think it is a great first day activity to get the layout of the land & have the opportunity to go back to anything we loved. I was invited to join a group on the NATURE BUS in my home city. I love the idea of a small bus and few people (bus can hold up to 16). With a smaller group we are able to do more in less time because we unloaded and loaded quickly, didn’t have to wait around for 50 people, and parking was easier. Suzanne Moss & Kevin Moss welcomed us warmly. The bus is brand-new & very comfortable to ride in. For the trip made for us we stopped at the GREEN CAT to pick up lunch to take to the park. Once at first landing park we had a picnic. Suzanne brought tablecloths for the picnic tables along with water & yummy coffee. After lunch we set up for the painting of an oak tree. Kevin, the artist showed us ways to create our master piece while Suzanne refill beverages & checked on our painting supplies. They never made us feel rushed to go to the next spot or leave. They let us be at our own pace. The spot they picked was perfect, even had a restroom nearby. Suzanne & Kevin explained each bus trip is customizable for each group….painting, wine tasting, nature, yoga … if you have a place in mind – they will take you. For the best experience it is suggested to plan your trip in advance so The Nature Bus team can make reservations & plan a timeline for the day. This is such a wonderful activity for any group really…. A b’day, a bridal shower, co-workers event, reunion…. & they can make the tour specific for the age group. I have been on many city bus tours all over the country and I have to say that I recommend THE NATURE BUS for anyone (local or visitor).

Nature Bus was probably one of the most organized and fun summer camps that my son has ever experienced. They went from... parks to beaches to trails, campsites and museums. I was really surprised of how many activities they had and how well prepared the teachers were with their materials and daily scheduled trips. Suzanne and Stephanie provides lots of brilliant ideas and above all they are the most caring individuals with pleasing personality. They provided so much stuff like, variety of materials, daily snack, nature journal, backpack filled with art supplies, binoculars, magnifying glasses, guide books, insect nets and more. Every day our son came home happy and an already asked us if he can go again next year! When your child gets home so emotional and wants to cry after their last day of camp that’s when you know the staff did a “FUNTASTIC job”. Kudos to you Suzanne and Stephanie! We had the BEST time on the Nature Bus! Suzanne and Kevin picked us up and took us to grab lunch at The Green Cat Cafe... and then we all had a nice picnic at First Landing State Park. After lunch, we had a guided painting session right under the trees. It was so beautiful! Kevin is very artistically talented, and helped us all create beautiful masterpieces. It's clear how much Suzanne takes pride in her family owned and operated business. If you're looking for a fun, outdoorsy group activity, I HIGHLY recommend The Nature Bus!read more

We scheduled a kayaking adventure but Hurricane Dorian had other plans. My wife reached out to the owner Suzanne, and... she recommended other options for our trip. The day turned out beautiful! We enjoyed a nature walk on the Eastern Shore, had lunch at Cape Charles brewery, ice cream at the Brown Dog Ice Cream shop and explored the historic town of Cape Charles. We were educated, fed, and entertained on a leisurely day trip. Can't ask for more. #shoplocal #supportsmallbuisnessesread more

I scheduled a private camping event for 12 of us to Sandy Bottom Park. Everyone had a wonderful time and I’m already... looking at scheduling another trip. Lol. Highly recommend The Nature Bus for your next small group adventure.read more

Leave the planning and the driving to The Nature Bus and enjoy a magical day outdoors! I had the most incredible day... making new friends and learning about edible wildflowers and the history of the great Kiptopeke State Park! So many options-- rent bikes or kayaks, take a nap in a hammock, learn to crab or fish. This is the best way to enjoy a new adventure whether you gather your own group and suggest a spot or sign-up for a trip expertly planned by Suzanne. She thinks of everything to make your day enjoyable! I look forward to the next adventure with The Nature Bus!read more

I had a WONDERFUL day “nature bathing” with Suzanne and her amazing Nature Bus! Suzanne thinks of everything necessary... to give people a memorable experience. The day was packed with activities bus was loaded with friendly, excited people. I met new friends, learned a great... deal from a Naturalist who led our forest walk, had my first yoga class and ended the day painting a bright moon behind the trees in a class led by an artist who provided every possible thing needed; easels, paint, aprons, brushes, etc. Bird calls were piped through the sound system of the very comfortable bus and there was even an essential oil diffuser and a cooler for our lunches. Thank you Nature Bus for a wonderful experience.read more
